The London School of Economics and Political Science currently presents Stelios Scholarships for ten successful candidates. The Stelios Scholarships worth approximately £6,206 that can be renew for three years.

Description
The School is offering 10 Stelios Scholarships for undergraduate entrants in 2013 studying business related disciplines.

Each scholarship has a value of approximately £6,206 (at 2012 rates) and is renewable for three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Four of the awards will be made to applicants from the UK, one to applicants from Greece and Cyprus respectively and the remaining four awards are open to applicants from any EU country.

Eligibility
These awards are aimed at undergraduate students in financial need who are enrolling on business related disciplines, with a preference for those doing BSc Economics courses. Evidence that you are interested in business will be taken into account in making the selection. Applicants need to be EU nationals and residents (this includes UK) in order to be eligible for this scholarship. Business related courses include:

• In general, however, applicants are judged on their individual merits and age, work experience and other factors are also considered.
• For MBA degrees, whilst work experience is desirable, it is not essential.
• If your native language is not English, you must provide satisfactory evidence that you have an adequate knowledge and understanding of written and spoken English (minimum IELTS test scores of 6.5).

2013/2014 Master Scholarship in Arts and Humanity Study at Nottingham Trent University, UK

Fully Funded Reasearch Scholarship in Biosciences at Swansea University, UK

The Swansea University’s College of Science currently invites applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship/Research scholarship in Biosciences. The studentship covers UK/ EU tuition fees, plus a stipend of £13,726 p.a. for three years.

Description
As the human population expands numerically and spatially at an unprecedented rate, we come into increasing contact with wild animal populations that can result in human-wildlife conflicts. These conflicts represent complex conservation problems requiring an in-depth understanding of animal space use in human-altered landscapes. Vultures have experienced population declines in many areas of the world as a result of changing agricultural and land-use practice. A detailed understanding of the mechanisms that drive patterns of space-use is required for these birds in order to understand their exposure to a range of potential threats, from harmful veterinary drugs to the risk of collisions with turbines. This PhD position will examine vulture space-use from fine to regional scales, using a combination of high-resolution movement data and Geographical Information System-type approaches.

The successful applicant will acquire diverse research skills, including analysis of accelerometry data, reconstruction of fine-scale flight paths using high-resolution movement data, use of GIS techniques and custom-made visualisation software. There are likely to be opportunities for data collection and further development of custom animal-attached hardware (Daily Diaries). The candidate will benefit from working within a lively, inter-disciplinary research environment within Swansea University’s College of Science and the use of a new £1.4 million, state-of-the art visualisation-suite, which is currently in construction. The candidate will be supervised by Dr Emily Shepard, who works on the costs and properties of animal movement paths, Dr Andrew King and Dr Adrian Luckman, who have expertise in the structure and function of animal societies and geospatial analysis, respectively.

2013 National Scholarship Programme at King's College London, UK

The  King's College London in the United Kingdom will be participating in the National Scholarship Programme  from 2013-14 offering 614 scholarships worth £3,000 each. The Scholarship is available for Home/EU students,  domiciled in England, with household incomes of £25,000 or less.

Description
The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) is a new £150m government programme which will directly benefit students entering higher education in after 2012-13.

Benefits:
Every successful applicant will receive a £3,000 scholarship in the first year of their studies.

The scholarship will be awarded as £1,000 cash bursary plus £2,000 to be offset against either tuition fees or King's Hall of Residence fees, at your disretion

Eligibility
The potential candidates must meet the requirements below:

• have an assessed household income of £25,000 or less;
• be in receipt of a maximum maintenance grant (£3,354);
• be undertaking their first undergraduate degree programme;
• be liable for tuition fees of £9,000;
• have ‘firmly’ accepted an offer of a place at King’s;
• be an English-domiciled home/EU undergraduate student;
• not be directly continuing from one programme to another (e.g. from foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree);
• not be in receipt of any other sponsorship for tuition fees;
