The purposes of the scholarship program of Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars is to provide financial assistance for students interested in engineering. Engineering is a degree that is highly sought-after–firms (including Northrop Grunman) have faced a shortage of specialized engineers.

The candidates must be high school seniors planning on studying engineering in college/university. Students must reside in an area where NG’s “Electronic Systems is a major presence.” This includes Maryland (all 23 counties and the city of Baltimore) and the following places:

- California: San Gabriel Valley, Antelope, Conejo, San Fernando, Simi Valley, Santa Clarita Valley or Ventura County
- Florida: Orange or Seminole County
- Illinois – Cities of Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Mt. Prospect, Palatine or Rolling Meadows
- New York – Erie or Niagara County
- Ohio: Butler, Claremont, Hamilton or Warren County
- Utah: Davis, Salt Lake, Utah or Weber County
- Virginia: Albemarle County
In addition, Students must have a minimum of a 1700 on their SAT (Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing) or a 27 on their ACT AND a minimum of a 3.5 GPA.
