Collegiate Inventors Competition is now offered for potential inventor students which is aimed to motivate students to compete in invention, science, engineering, technology, and other creative endeavors and provides a window on the technologies from which society will benefit in the future.
Description
The Collegiate Inventors Competition has been established since 1999. The competition is purposed encourage hundreds of students to share their inventive ideas with the world. The Competition promotes exploration in invention, science, engineering, technology, and other creative endeavors and provides a window on the technologies from which society will benefit in the future.
Benefits:
Prizes are awarded to the top three entries in each division. Advisors of winning entries receive cash prizes as well.
Graduate Division:
Gold: $15,000 (advisor receives $5,000)
Silver: $12,500 (advisor receives $3,000)
Bronze: $10,000 (advisor receives $2,000)
Undergraduate Division:
Gold: $12,500 (advisor receives $4,000)
Silver: $10,000 (advisor receives $2,000)
Bronze: $7,500 (advisor receives $1,000)
Eligibility
All applicants of the Collegiate Inventors Competition should be enrolled (or have been enrolled) full-time in any U.S. or Canadian college or university at least part of the 12-month period prior to the date the entry is submitted. In the case of a team (maximum of four students), at least one member of the team must meet the full-time eligibility criteria. The other team members must have been enrolled on a part-time basis (at a minimum) sometime during the 12-month period prior to the date the entry is submitted.
Application Procedure
The application consists of: general student information; an essay including a brief description or abstract of the invention; information on the faculty advisor; a letter of recommendation from the faculty advisor; a literature/patent search and summary; and any relevant supporting or supplemental materials you wish to submit (examples: charts, graphs, CDs or DVDs, slides, samples, etc.). In addition, entrants must fulfill the student status requirements. The entry must be written in English.
