Medicine Scholarship: Troy Pocock scholarship at the University of Wollongong, Australia

Troy Pocock scholarship
The University of Wollongong now please Australian or permanent residents of Australia undergraduate students in Medicine study to apply Troy Pocock scholarship.

Description
Troy Pocock, a local to the Shoalhaven area, contracted meningococcal disease while on a working holiday in London.  Troy died within hours of the initial onset of the disease.  He had just turned 21 only days before his death.  In April 2004 Troy’s parents, Larraine and Richard along with his brother Scott formed the Troy Pocock Meningococcal Foundation Inc to honour Troy’s memory and fill the void left by the closure of the Meningitis Trust.

With the help of family, friends and community, they have managed not only to fundraise for the cause, but educate the community about this insidious disease.  The Troy Pocock Scholarship is the result of that fundraising and the intention of the Troy Pocock Meningococcal Foundation to make an impact in the medical community to fight meningococcal through education of doctors present and future.
