1. Student Employment
Any full-time student is able to work on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week when classes are in session. Jobs are available on campus, but it may not be possible to have a full twenty hours all the time; new students may have difficulty finding a job. Therefore, earnings from employment should always be viewed as a supplement and never as being crucial to meeting the expenses of studying in the U.S. because of its unpredictability.
2. Resident Assistant
Openings to be a Residence Assistant become available from time to time. These positions require living in a campus residence hall and being responsible for assisting students on a floor. RA awards include a scholarship, a stipend, and a reduced rate on a single room accommodation. Normally a student will not be eligible until after their first year.
3. Academic Scholarships
New international students are now eligible for a merit scholarship award of U.S.$1,000. This will be awarded at U.S.$500 per semester. All accepted Undergraduate School applicants whose academic background is of sufficiently high quality as to be considered equivalent to a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in the U. S. educational system will automatically be eligible for this award depending on the availability of funds. The level of equivalency will be determined by the Director of International Admissions.
Eligible students will be asked to complete and submit an application form. The awards will be given only to those students who have completed the application and returned it to the Office of International Admissions no later than sixty (60) days prior to the beginning of the semester as indicated on the I-20. Students who enter the Intensive English Program first, or who begin studies in our summer school will have their awards deferred to the term in which they begin full-time Undergraduate studies, either September or January.
Late applications will not be considered for this award under the Academic Scholarship Program. No exceptions will be made.
Students who continue at Southern New Hampshire University will be eligible each year for additional awards under the Academic Scholarship Program. Continuing students who achieve a grade point average between 3.0 and 3.49 will be eligible to receive U.S.$1,000. Continuing students who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0 will be eligible to receive U.S.$1,500. These will be awarded on a semester basis.
4. International Student Scholarships
Several scholarships are available exclusively for International Students and are based on both merit and need. Typically 4-5 five thousand dollar award are made. These are renewable based on maintaining a GPA of 2.5.
5. Athletic Scholarships
Athletic scholarships are available to outstanding athletes in basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer (football), tennis, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Scholarship amounts vary.
International Student Loan Program
Do you have family or friends living permanently in the USA?
The International Student Loan Program offers loans for up to the full cost of your education. Repayment terms are up to 25 years. This loan is available for both graduate and undergraduate programs, but not for Intensive English. The primary condition is that the student has a family member or friend who is a citizen or permanent resident of the US. That person must be willing to co-sign or guarantee the loan.
