This Chemistry Research Fellowship provided for whom want to have an experience in chemistry jobs. Applicants are specially invited from a postdoctoral students who wish to work on Project MEET which has been selected in the context of the INTERREG IV A France (Channel) – England European cross-border co-operation programme, which is co-financed by the ERDF. The topic of this strand of the project is ‘New organic materials for organic electronics and optoelectronics’. Organic materials are key components in several evolving technologies such as as Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs), Organic Field Effect Transistors (OFETs) and Organic Photovoltaic materials (OPVs). There is huge potential to enhance the effectiveness of these materials by manipulation of the structures of the organic component at the molecular level. This project is aimed at the synthesis and characterisation of a variety of polycyclic aromatic and heteroaromatic molecules predicted theoretically to have desirable properties. The project is based in Chemistry, Southampton but builds on an establish collaboration with Prof. Bernhard Witulski (ENISCAEN, Caen, France) and will involved some time in his laboratory.
Eligibility
In order to be considered in this chemistry jobs applicants must:
- A good degree or equivalent in Organic Chemistry.
- PhD (complete or submitted before post start date) or equivalent in organic Chemistry.
- Detailed understanding and knowledge of organic chemistry.
- Evidence of peer reviewed journal output from previous positions. Experience of synthetic organic chemistry.
- Knowledge of materials for organic electronics and/or of polyaromatic or heteroaromatci synthesis.
