9jacampus Ranking of the 10 most Indemand employers for graduates using linkedIn(Nigeria)

Picture yourself walking into your dream job. What logo is on the

door? Whether it's a hot tech start-up or a prestigious global

accounting firm, some employers are more desirable than others. For

companies, this affects how easily they can recruit, and for employees

it's tied to your professional reputation. Using our professional data

set from linkedIn, 9jacampus has identified which companies are most

attractive to potential candidates.

A few interesting insights came out about what makes a desirable employer:

*. Tech is hot: Software was the most represented industry on the

list(linkedIn) and Google top it

*. A strong consumer brand helps, but isn't essential: Consumer

powerhouses like PepsiCo , Coca-Cola , NBA , and Dangote ranked

highly. But so did leading professional services firms like ATI

consultants.

*Oil and gas, companies are also included, here is where Nigeria's economy lies

*. Bigger isn't necessarily better: Big global Nigerian brands are

well represented, but 40% of the top 10 are under 8,000 employees.

What makes these rankings so unique and exciting to me as a

professional resercher is that they're based on the actual actions of

millions of professionals on LinkedIn. May I remind you that last

year, LinkedIn was home to over 15 billion interactions between

professionals and companies. I cross-referenced my data with thousands

of survey responses to pinpoint the specific activities that best

indicate familiarity and interest in working for a company: connecting

with employees, viewing employee profiles, visiting Company and Career

Pages, and following companies. After crunching this data and

normalizing for things like company size, I developed my top 10 global

list. I then applied LinkedIn profile data to rank the most

sought-after employers among professionals in Nigeria and job

functions.

I used a similar analytical framework to develop the 9jacampus Index

of skilled graduates a powerful tool to help companies measure and

improve their evalution

This reserch was done to help members and companies better

understand the professional landscape. Read through and see if your

company is in my list

1. NNPC: The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is a

state owned corporation through which the Federal governtment of

Nigeria regulates the petroleum industry, they are also involved in

drilling and other oil and gas related activities. It ranked first

because they always have massive applicants when ever they have an

openning.

Head office: Abuja

Category: oil and gas

website: www.nnpcgroup.com

salary: Very actractive

2. Shell: Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical

companies with a staff base of more than population of a country and

in more than 90 countries.

Head office: hague netherlands

category: oil and gas

website: www.shell.com

salary: very actractive.

3. Central Bank Of Nigeria: The Central bank of Nigeria is Nigeria's

no.1 bank, it also regulates other banks in the banking industries. It

also records massive applications from graduates.

Head office:Abuja

category: Banking

website: www.cbn.gov.com

salary: also actractive

Join me for the second part of this reserch soon to be published.

Customizing Your Facebook Fan Page

Facebook is growing at a tremendous rate and most of the bloggers out there use Facebook to publicize their blog and make it more popular. Bloggers mainly aim at getting more likes to their fan page so that they could get more traffic to their blog. But without implementing the correct methods it is really impossible for people to get more fans. The most important thing that you need to do is to customize your facebook page to make it more attractive so that people would surely check out your page. So here are some of the optimization tips that would help you to increase the appearance of your facebook fan page. Lets get started.

Create a Landing page :
So at first what is a landing page ? It is the page which appears when an user who has not liked your page visits the page. Creating a landing page is not much difficult as you guys think it is. There are lots and lots of applications that are available to make your landing page ready in seconds.
I highly recommend this application for you guys to use. It allows you to add a landing page to your facebook page. But you need to add the codes to it and tell them what you need to add to the landing page. In this world you cant survive without coding.
If you dont wanna code this item then you can also use this application to add a welcome tab using a WYSIWYG editor/

Adding Extra Tabs To your Page :
This is a highly recommended trick that you need to follow. Add  more and more tabs to your facebook page containing more information that the users require. And even in this place you need to add codes to show what you need to appear in those tabs.
Adding tabs is also so simple. Here is a video tutorial on how to add such tabs to your facebook page.

Adding a Contact Form :
This would make the users easier if they wanted to contact you. This would also increase your privacy as you can hide your Facebook profile from the page and also allow the users to contact you in just a click. You can add it by your own codes but it would be easier for you to add the contact form by using the applications which are available. It would also help in you increasing the appearance of your contact form.
Here is the most recommended application which I used to design the contact form for my page.

Add a Group Chat to your page :
This would help the users of your page to come in close contact with you and the other users of your page. This does not work similar to that of a Facebook group chat but in a different location and with a different appearance.
You can add it to your facebook page using this application.

Add RSS Feed To Your Fanpage :
Adding the RSS feed to your blog would make your blog more lively and make the users easier to take a peek at your posts on your blog. You need to code to add it to your facebook page. But if you are using feed burner, they are providing codes for you to add it to your facebook page. So if you use feedburner then navigate to Publicize > Buzz Boost and get your codes.

An alternative To All The Above :
Shocked uhhh !!! Yeah it is possible to add all the above using a simple application called as Involver. But it does not allow some applications to get added on your application without paying them. But most of the applications like RSS, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, Photo Gallery, Scribd, Klout coupons etc are free. So you can try this from here.
Well I hope that you guys are now very familiar with how to customize your facebook page to get more likes. And so happy customizing. Got a doubt ? Post them below.

Developing Relationships with Big Companies

Developing Relationships with Big Companies

Ben T. Smith IV, co-founder of Merchantcircle.com & Spoke.com (btsiv.com), talks about developing relationships with big companies. These tips will help you build those important business bonds to help better your company. Watch the Video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gg7J_bY76uQ
  1. Understand the assumptions of the big company
  2. Ignore any negative criticism
  3. Consistently deliver relevant results
  4. Establish long-term trust
Anytime you’re thinking about selling your company, eventually, you’re going to be talking to big companies about buying it. Having worked with both buyers who are in very large companies, $20 billion type of companies as an executive, as well as having sold my company to a big company, the whole process is a long process about building relationships. I can promise you the first time you’re having an interaction with big companies, it’s usually not going to be comfortable, it’s not going to be positive. They’ll probably going to even laugh at you. You’re not going to start with, “Hey, we want to buy you from day one.”

Building that relationship over time is what drives you to success. So you’re going to go through a cycle. First, they’re going to think the problem you’re solving is unimportant. Then they’re going to laugh at the fact that you think you can solve it. Then they’re going to decide that they think they can do it themselves. And then eventually, if they’re still talking to you, they’re going to decide that you’re a better solution than trying to do it themselves.

In order to get past those cycles, the first thing I suggest you do is when you’re in those early meetings, really listen to them and understand what are the assumptions that are driving their perspective on your company, what’s driving their business, what metrics matter to them, et cetera, and really understand what drives their underlying assumptions.

Then, I’d say ignore them and stop listening to them. Because if you listen to a big company when you’re a startup and you’re talking to them, chances are you’re going to give up pretty quickly because they’re going to make fun of you in the beginning. They’re going to think you’re a crazy founder and it never going to solve anything.

Then once you understand their metrics, keep coming back to them, listening to them over and over again and delivering to them a consistent set of metrics as to what you’re accomplishing relative to their metrics. So if it’s the case of you’re really gaining a lot of consumer traffic, show them how you’re gaining consumer traffic and deliver those same metrics over and over again over a period of 18 months where every time you talk to them, every time you e-mail them, you’re giving them one more piece of data that shows your company is doing better and better.

And that process develops trust relationships with the buyer. In the end, they’re going to be making a bet on you. So you got bring them along, have them develop a level of trust with you over time if you’re going to make it happen.

And then one day, they’re going to offer to buy you. And at that point in time, there’s a bunch of details about how you get the deal done, but you can’t start at the end and worry about the details of how you do a deal. You really have to start building that relationship and building that trust or set of common metrics over a period of 18 months.

Sweden Scholarships for International Students in 2011/2012

The Swedish Higher Institutions will be introducing application and tuition fees for international students who want to study in Universities and University Colleges in Sweden, from 2011 academic year (except Nationals of member states of the European Economic Area – EEA – i.e. the European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and Switzerland). Universities in Sweden used to be Tuition Free for both EU and Non-EU/ international students, until the beginning of the autumn semester 2011. Your question, then, as a prospective student thinking of studying abroad in Sweden could be,” what possible alternative is available”? I agree it was easier with the usual free tuition than scholarship, which is much more uncertain with high competition, but international students can still apply their skills with the available scholarships for foreign students.
