
Description
David Pilon was one of the founding co-chairs of APAGS in 1988. This $1,500 cash scholarship, named in his honor as appreciation for his initial work in launching APAGS, is intended to promote supplemental training and education experiences in professional practice (funds must support future training and education rather than previous work). The scholarship is designed also to be used for a specific training program or opportunity not otherwise available to the student so that an identifiable increase in knowledge will result from the training.
Eligibility
To be eligible, candidates must be doctoral student members of APAGS who are enrolled at least halftime as a student in good standing at a regionally accredited university. If you are a student affiliate of APA and are in a masters or doctoral program, you are automatically a member of APAGS. Undergraduates are not eligible for these scholarships, nor are APAGS officers, subcommittee, or task force chairs. Previous recipients of each award are not eligible to apply again for a period of five years.
Application Procedure
Your application should be submitted online/email. Please include the following documents:
- A summary of proposed projects (not to exceed two pages single-spaced).
- Anticipated speakers: (if applicable) include the names, professional titles and affiliations of all speakers (not to exceed one page single-spaced).
- Evaluation: explain any evaluations or handouts that will be disseminated at the end of the program (not to exceed two pages single-spaced).
- Organizational profile: provide general information about the organization or individual hosting the event and any co-sponsoring organizations or individuals. Names of supporting faculty should also be included. (Not to exceed two pages single-spaced.) and/or
- Appendix: (if applicable) provide copies of any brochures or advertisements to publicize the program or event (not to exceed two pages single-spaced).
