Research Grant in Internatonal Studies The research grant is offered by the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. The scholarship grant available for recent PhDs for one-year (with possibility of renewal for a second year) postdoctoral fellow positions in global security, broadly defined, beginning July 1, 2013.

Description
The mission of the Watson Institute is to pursue interdisciplinary research on pressing global issues and to foster more direct engagements between scholarship and policy and public debates.

Successful candidates will pursue their own research and also contribute to the development of collective and collaborative research at the Institute. They will teach one course per year, chosen in consultation with the relevant undergraduate concentration director.

Benefits: the selected candidates will be granted salary $50,000 (12 month) plus individual health and dental coverage if needed.

Eligibility
All applicants working in the area of global security are welcome. We are especially interested in those whose work focuses on nontraditional security issues, including (but not restricted to) topics such as cyber security, armed non-state actors, and transnational crime. We also encourage applicants whose security-related research intersects with the Institute's work on global political economy and development.
