Lawrence Dudley Stamp (1898-1966) was an internationally renowned British geographer who served as President of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Institute of British Geographers. The Dudley Stamp Memorial Award was established in 1967 to enable postgraduate geographers to travel in support of their research.
The Dudley Stamp Memorial Award offers a number of small grants (up to £500) for PhD students or postdoctoral researchers in the early stages of their careers, to assist them in research or study travel leading to the advancement of geography and to international cooperation in the study of geography.

Eligibility
- The awards support research or study travel leading to the advancement of geography. Usually there is an international dimension
- Applicants must be registered (full or part time) for a PhD at a UK Higher Education institution OR employed by a UK HEI within 6 years of completion of a doctoral degree.
- Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply.
- Applicants registered on MPhil or other Masters courses are NOT eligible.
- These awards cannot provide funding solely for conference attendance.
