2013 Regions Riding Forward Scholarship, USAThe Regions Riding Forward Scholarship is in honor of Black History Month. This scholarship is an Essay Contest Scholarship. Regions will award sixteen $2,500 scholarships to college freshmen, sophomores and sixteen $5,000 scholarships to high school seniors.

Description
The scholarship will be awarded for both High School Seniors and College Students. Regions will award sixteen $5,000 scholarships to high school seniors from states with Regions branches who will attend college this year. To enter, write a 500-word essay about an African-American, past or present, who has inspired you. In addition,Regions will award sixteen $2,500 scholarships to college freshmen, sophomores and/or juniors from, or currently attending college in, states with Regions branches. To enter, write a 500-word essay about an African-American, past or present, who has inspired you and affected your current college career.

The scholarship is essay-based and asks students to write an essay about an African-American who has inspired you.  This person can be from the past or present.  Essays should be 500-words or less.  The scholarship committee will be awarding 16 scholarships worth $5,000 each to high school seniors.  There will also be 16 scholarships awarded to college students valued at $2,500.

Eligibility
Students must be high school seniors or an undergrad freshman, sophomore, or junior.  High school seniors should be bound for college in the fall.  Students must also live in/be enrolled in college in an eligible state.  Eligible states include: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
